The Dizziness Exercise Guidelines
- Welcome to "the exercise vault". This is an online educational resource of eye tracking and balance training exercises called vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT). The exercises are designed to improve symptoms of disequilibrium and unsteadiness.
- In the process of helping you recover, this training program may provoke symptoms of dizziness or nausea. It is important to remember that it is through this process of provoking dizziness that an individual can improve their vestibular disorder.
- Within reason, work through the symptoms. If you are feeling too dizzy, slow down the eye movement slightly. Rest between each exercise.
- If you wear glasses, wear them while performing the exercises.
- The speed of the eye movement increases as long as the target stays in focus. The target must remain in focus at all times (no blurriness).
- These exercises demand concentration, therefore avoid distractions if possible. Once improvements are noted, you can introduce external stimuli.
- For safety, standing exercises must be performed close to a counter or next to someone.
